Biography

Nathan C. Carroll

From a very young age I have always had a passion for art. Throughout my school years my love for the subject grew from strength to strength and ultimately led me to studying Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University. Since finishing university with a Bachelor of Arts degree (2:1) I have continued to develop my art practice both from the comfort of my own studio in Manchester and on the road whilst travelling the world.

Since achieving an A* in A-level Photography and being employed at Neil Barrett’s Photography Studio I have continued to further my knowledge of photography and digital manipulation to a professional level where I am regularly commissioned for photoshoots (weddings, family portraits, music events etc.)

Though I have worked with a wide variety of disciplines my forte lies in the art of oil painting. Throughout my practice I use my own digital photography as the inspiration for subject matter, lighting and composition. Taking a classic approach, I use traditional techniques allowing the oil paint to bring out aspects in an image a camera never could. Close up you will see the expressive brush strokes that make up the whole piece, which when viewed from a distance form a contemporary take on realism.

Many of the paintings on my page are still available for purchase (please see descriptions or message me for further details). I also welcome commissions, so if there is a particular image you have in mind we can work together to transform it from an idea into a reality.
